Elle’s Studio-This Was Tough

Hello crafty friends!  I’m back with you today to share a layout using the newly released Feel Better mini collection from Elle’s Studio.  One of my new years resolutions this year is to focus on storytelling when creating my layouts.  I want to make sure I take the time to dig a little deeper and tell the stories I may have over looked in the past.  When I saw the new Feel Better collection I knew the story I wanted to tell.

I decided to document a time a few years ago when my little guy was struggling to gain weight and grow.  For about 6 months he needed a feeding tube to eat.  I remember at the time thinking, “this isn’t so bad, I can handle this…”  Looking back now I know that there was so much more to this story, and that is what I wanted to document.

I loved the “This was Tough” card and wanted to use that sentiment as my title but I need more space to tell my story than the 3×4 card allowed, so I decided to go digital.  Did you know that you can turn the physical 3×4 cards that come in the kit digital?  With just a few extra steps you can manipulate the cards to tell any story you have in mind.

Step 1: Scan the card into your computer.

Step 2: Open the scanned image in photoshop.

Step 3: Crop & manipulate the image to fit your project.

For my project I cropped out the title and placed it on a 6×8 canvas.  I measured my spread to make sure that I could place my 4×6 photo on the top and use the Get Well stamp set to create a sub title.  Next, I created a text box and inserted all of my journaling right on the 6×8 canvas.  I printed out the canvas on 8.50 x 11 white card stock.

With my title and journaling in place all I needed to do was to assemble and embellish the layout.  I adhered the photo to the top of the layout and used a cute branding strip to divide the photo from my journaling.  I used the exclusive stamp from the Feel Better collection to add my sub title in mint ink to coordinate with the branding strip.  Below my journaling I added a strip of patterned paper from the Sunny Days collection.  I chose the woodgrain paper to keep a light, soft feel to the layout.   When it came to adding embellishments I wanted to tie in the patterned paper I used and bring the whole layout together.  I used the adorable XO wood veneers from the collection along with a mint puffy heart sticker.

I love how the whole layout came together.  The Get Well kit is perfect to tell so many stories and I love that I can manipulate the cards to tell any of these stories in the perfect way.  Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope this inspires you to use the wonderful goodies from Elle’s Studio tell more of your important stories.

Have a beautiful day!

Clique Kits-You Do You

Hello again friends!  I am over on the Clique Kits blog today to sharing a travelers notebook spread using the breathtaking February kit.  In case you haven’t seen the kit yet here is a peek at all the goodies in the kit.  You can check out the kit and the extras in the shop here.

For my spread I knew I wanted to use the “you do you” acrylic piece as the focal point and theme to drive my spread.  With all the light and whimsical colors in the kit I knew that creating a spread doing a little personal reflection would be perfect.

For the right side of my spread I paired the acrylic piece with a photo of me from January.  To add a little more color to the acrylic piece I backed it with a few different papers from the kit.  I simply glued down the acrylic to the paper then used sharp, fine tip scissors to cut around the acrylic.

For the left side of the spread I needed to create a home for my journaling.  To create the pocket for my tags I stitched down an embossed piece of vellum on three sides.  I tucked a few tags from the kit along with a few tags I created from coordinating patterned paper.

To add a little light embellishment I added a flower from the die cut pack and a little gold tab on the edge of the journaling pocket.

I love the final spread!  I think it is so important to take the time to include yourself in your scrapbooking.  Years from now I know I will love reading about my thoughts and feelings at this point in my life.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Don’t forget to share you travelers notebook spreads with us in The Clique group on Facebook!  We love to see all your creations.

And don’t forget…You Do You!

Every month in addition to the kit there are lots of add ons that you can add to your box.  This month there is lots of fun Valentine themed embellishments and stamps.  My favorite this month is definitely the large XO acrylics and the What Happened stamp!

Here is a look at the coordinating cut files and printables for February.  They are all fabulous and you can always edit the colors in Photoshop to match each of your projects.

Now for the projects I created for the design team gallery this month.  First, I created my week 2 project life spread for 2017.

I used various cards from this month’s kit in addition to cards from the Love You Journaling Tags, Right Now Journaling Tags, and 2017 Calendar Journaling Tags.

For the title card I used the awesome Dated Stamp and a wood veneer star.

To embellish the spread I added a few die cuts, wood veneer stars and the perfect puffy heart stickers that I am trying my hardest not to hoard….

To see how this spread came together step by step you can check out the process video below.

For my next spread I created a 8.5 x 11 layout highlighting some of my favorite moments in January.

For this project I started with a plain 8.5 x 11 card stock.  Next I punched 2×2 circles from the February Journaling Tags, Sunny Days collection, and Love You Journaling Tags.

I created a grid style layout with the punched circles and inserted a few pictures from January.

For my journaling I used the Jonah Stamp set to mark the spots where I wanted to add my journaling in Photoshop.

To embellish around the spread I added acrylic hearts, Love Ya wood veneer circles and the adorable LOVE acrylic piece.  At the bottom of the spread I added the January wood venner tab to note the month these memories were captured and a little puffy heart.

I love the clean look of the grid with the circles!  Such a fun layout!  Below is a video walking you through how the spread came together.

Thanks so much for stopping by today to check out the new kit and my fun projects!  If you have any questions let me know!

Have a beautiful day!

The Cut Shoppe-Things I Love About You

Hello again friends!  Today I am over on The Cut Shoppe Blog  sharing a little Valentine inspiration.  I just adore the latest shop release and my favorite has to be the new XOXO cut file. I love working with grids and creating a nice streamlined layout.  The XOXO file is perfect for creating a grid all about something or someone that you love.

To start the layout I used a piece of beautiful ombre patterned paper from Elle’s Studio Little Moments collection.  I then cut the file out of white card stock so each square would measure 3×3.

I backed a few of the squares with patterned paper and left one open to show the background.  To complete the grid I added 3 photos of one of my little guy and a few journal cards cut down to 3×3.

I embellished the layout with a few tags, hearts, word strips and (my favorite) the XO black acrylic letters.  I used white embroidery floss to stitch down the acrylic letters.  I love the pops of white!

I added my journaling to the center card with my typewriter.  To add dimension I popped up the photos and various embellishments.

I can’t say enough how much I love the final spread!  I stepped out of my comfort zone and went with a patterned paper background & I love it!!  Try stepping out of your comfort zone this week when your are getting crafty.  You just may surprise yourself and love what happens!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful week!

Sahlin Studio-Week 2 Project Life

Hello again!  Candace here with you to share my week #2 of Project Life.  Project Life or pocket page scrapbooking is my favorite way to document my family’s weekly moments and memories.  I have completed 5 years of documenting my family’s memories this way and I am excited for a brand new year.

For week #2 I combined digital word art on the photos with journal cards to create consistency and repetition across the spread.  By using similar elements across a spread you can create a pattern that keeps the eye moving.

I used the new Days Photo Rounds on the photos in the spread.  To do this is simply opened my photos in Photoshop then added the rounds on top of the photos in various places to create a pattern.  Again to continue the pattern across the spread I added cork stars on each round.

To balance color I made sure that I had yellow and black cards and embellishments on the left and right side of the spread.  For these cards I used the Rough Times Journal cardsRough Times papers and Rough Times digital elements.

I also created a balance of black & white and color photos by staggering them with the journal cards.

I love the final spread with it’s balance of color and embellishments and the repetition of elements to keep the eye moving across the spread.

For in-depth details and a step by step look at how this layout came together you can check out my process video below.  Try adding repeated elements across your next spread and see how you can create a pattern.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a beautiful day!

Clique Kits-My Whole World

Hello again friends!  I am so grateful every time I find myself here writing another piece of (hopefully) inspiration for you.  Today I am over on the Clique Kits blog sharing a little inspiration using the February kit, Bee You.  The beautiful kits always inspire me to create something new and this month’s kit is especially beautiful!  Here is a quick look at the kit that you can find in the shop here.

For today’s layout I was inspired to use this month’s wonderful cut file.  Can you even take in all the cuteness?!  I wanted to focus on the little guys that make up my whole world and tell the story of my 4 kids.

To start the layout I cut the file out of white card stock from my stash.  Next, I used white embroidery floss and hand-stitched around the outside of the globe.  I backed the open globe with the etched wood veneer.

I surrounded the globe with flowers from the ephemera pack and flowers fussy cut from patterned papers in the kit.  I also added a few of the stunning puffy stickers flowers from the Hazelwood add-on.

In line with the theme I embellished the globe with a few chipboard hearts and a small bundle of string.

For my title I used the gold thinkers in the kit.  I adore the script letters!

For a few final accents I added the chipboard arrows and stamped the date.  I adore the final spread.  I love how easy the layout came together working with such lovely products!

I hope this has given you a few ideas on how you can play with the fun embellishments in this months kits.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a beautiful Monday and capture some memories!

One Little Bird-January Memorydex

Hello!  I am beyond excited to be back for another year at One Little Bird!  I love creating pocket page scrapbooking spreads to share with you but for January I thought I would mix it up a little and share a new project for this year.

In december I received the Heidi Swapp Memorydex and then after seeing the beautiful new This Year collection and the 2017 Calendar Cards I knew I wanted to create a memory collection for this year.

To start creating the files I printed out a bunch of the patterned paper on card stock. I then used the memorydex dies to create the pages.  On a few pages with tabs I hung the die over the edge to leave the tab white.

I also printed out the This Year Journal Cards and cut them down to fit into the cute envelopes I created out of the patterned paper.

To document a few of the highlights this month I attached 2×2 photos and added a little journaling to the back of the cards.

I used the print and cut feature in Silhouette to create a bunch of little embellishments to add to the envelopes and other pages in the memorydex.

Here is a page by page flip through of some of my favorite pages I created.

For the title card I added the “Year” word art along with the “Time for a change” label on top of a white acrylic “2017” from Elle’s Studio.

I added the January calendar card with an adorable mint puffy heart as one of my first pages to mark the month of memories.

Here I added a little photo of me thinking about what resolutions I wanted to consider for this year.  On the back of the card I documented my goals.  I just adore that mint color!

On this card I layered the “goal” word art over a label with dimensional adhesive then stapled to lined paper.  I added the photo to the left side so I could document my feelings about this goal my husband & I have for this year.

One of my favorite parts of this little project is the little envelopes full of memories.

I love the little cards with small photos!  Can you even take all the cuteness!?

For a few of the cards I simply added a label so throughout the month I could add my thoughts and memories.

This journal card was just too perfect not to include. I just punched the memorydex holes on the bottom of the card and slid it in!

To this card I added a sweaty gym selfie along with some “fresh start” word art layered on top of a tag.  This mix of grey and mint is perfection!

For this tab I added an acrylic piece from Color Cast designs.  Another perfect sentiment, Just Breathe…progress over perfection.  So important to remember this when I get over whelmed with life! Just breathe…

Another adorable envelope.  I love the beautiful flowers.

To end January I added another envelope to add my final reflections and thoughts for the month.

I loved putting together this beautiful project.  The colors are just magical and speak to new beginnings and a fresh start.  I can’t wait to document my whole year in this memorydex and capture and document the highlights of my family’s memories.

Thanks for stopping by today!
