One Little Bird-January Memorydex

Hello!  I am beyond excited to be back for another year at One Little Bird!  I love creating pocket page scrapbooking spreads to share with you but for January I thought I would mix it up a little and share a new project for this year.

In december I received the Heidi Swapp Memorydex and then after seeing the beautiful new This Year collection and the 2017 Calendar Cards I knew I wanted to create a memory collection for this year.

To start creating the files I printed out a bunch of the patterned paper on card stock. I then used the memorydex dies to create the pages.  On a few pages with tabs I hung the die over the edge to leave the tab white.

I also printed out the This Year Journal Cards and cut them down to fit into the cute envelopes I created out of the patterned paper.

To document a few of the highlights this month I attached 2×2 photos and added a little journaling to the back of the cards.

I used the print and cut feature in Silhouette to create a bunch of little embellishments to add to the envelopes and other pages in the memorydex.

Here is a page by page flip through of some of my favorite pages I created.

For the title card I added the “Year” word art along with the “Time for a change” label on top of a white acrylic “2017” from Elle’s Studio.

I added the January calendar card with an adorable mint puffy heart as one of my first pages to mark the month of memories.

Here I added a little photo of me thinking about what resolutions I wanted to consider for this year.  On the back of the card I documented my goals.  I just adore that mint color!

On this card I layered the “goal” word art over a label with dimensional adhesive then stapled to lined paper.  I added the photo to the left side so I could document my feelings about this goal my husband & I have for this year.

One of my favorite parts of this little project is the little envelopes full of memories.

I love the little cards with small photos!  Can you even take all the cuteness!?

For a few of the cards I simply added a label so throughout the month I could add my thoughts and memories.

This journal card was just too perfect not to include. I just punched the memorydex holes on the bottom of the card and slid it in!

To this card I added a sweaty gym selfie along with some “fresh start” word art layered on top of a tag.  This mix of grey and mint is perfection!

For this tab I added an acrylic piece from Color Cast designs.  Another perfect sentiment, Just Breathe…progress over perfection.  So important to remember this when I get over whelmed with life! Just breathe…

Another adorable envelope.  I love the beautiful flowers.

To end January I added another envelope to add my final reflections and thoughts for the month.

I loved putting together this beautiful project.  The colors are just magical and speak to new beginnings and a fresh start.  I can’t wait to document my whole year in this memorydex and capture and document the highlights of my family’s memories.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Clique Kits- Love Mini Album

Hello friends!   I am happy to be with you today to share my first project with the beautiful February kit, Bee You!  Have you seen it?  Here is a little look and you can check it and the add ons out in the shop here.  Gorgeous, right?!

Today is all about playing with paper and what better way to play with paper than to make a little mini album.  What I love about this mini is that the base is created using just one piece of paper!  You can pick up this free cut file from Bea Valint here.

This is a look at the mini all put together.  For my mini I cut the base 2x, once out of patterned paper and once out of plain white card stock.  I adhered the two bases together so the arrows would be on the outside and the white would be on the inside.  While this is not necessary, you can just use one piece of paper, I wanted the inside to be white.

I treated each set of flip outs like its own layout.  For my first set of flip outs I did a spread about my 3 year old little guy.  I added cork accents from the kit along with patterned paper from the cut apart sheet.

The next flip out is all arrows, that happens to be the outside of the box.  These can be decorated but my box was already getting a little thick so I chose to leave them plain.  (I also adore the arrows!)

On the bottom flip out I stitched the pocket together with white thread and tucked a tag and photo inside.  For my title on this little spread I added a sentiment from the cut apart sheet and a little chipboard heart.

For the top flip out I added a photo and a little journaling.  I love the flowers peeking out from behind the photo!

On the right side there is another flip out and pocket.  For this side I added another sentiment from the cut apart sheet along with tags and another photo of one of my boys.  On the cut file in this flip out there is a flower cut-out.  I choose to take that out of the file because I knew that I wanted to use that area for a photo.  You can choose to leave the flower cut-out in and create a sequin pocket or add a bit of hand-stitching!

For the last flip out I added a photo of some yummy cupcakes my husband brought me back from New York.  I layered the adorable chipboard letters over the top of the photo and backed two of the squares with a little patterned paper.

Here is a look at the whole mini flipped out.  This was such a fun mini album to put together!  I love when I can sit down in my craft room and just play with pretty paper!  Give this mini album a try!  We would love to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping  by today!  Have a wonderful Sunday!

Sahlin Studio-Yearly Snapshots 2017

Hello! I am back with you today to share a yearly family memory keeping tradition.  At the beginning of every year I like to document where my kids are in life.  I like to record their interests and favorite foods along with a photo and a handprint.  I love that years from now I can look back and have a quick  yearly snapshot of each of my kids.

Candace Perkins Boys Intro 2017 I Sahlin Studio

Because I have four busy boys I like to make this process as streamlined as possible.  Digital to the rescue!  By using digital templates I am able to quickly enter the information for each boy and slide in an adorable photo.

For the handprint I used card stock and adhered it to the opposite side of the photo.  This year I decided to add a little dimension to each layout by combining the digital word stamps with letters stickers for each boys name.  The boys placed their handprint on the center of the paper using acrylic paint.  This is “hands down” my favorite part of the project.  I love seeing their little handprints grow over the years!

On the front of each photo I added a star brad and a little, white word strip to add just a little more dimension.  I always like to add a little something to my digital projects to make it feel a little more handmade.

There it is, another year in the books!  I place these snapshots in the front of my project life album right behind the yearly title page.  Year after year I adore this project, I adore the memories and the moments captured.  It is never too late to start!  Give this a try in your next album.

Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day!

Make sure you stop by the Sahlin Studios blog to get a free download to document your family’s currents!

The Cut Shoppe-We’re this Together

Hello!  Most people who follow me and my work know that I love to work with circles.  So anytime I have a chance to work with a circle cut file you know it is going to quickly become my new favorite!  Today is no different, I am in love with the new Geo Globe cut file from The Cut Shoppe.

To start the layout I brought the file into my Silhouette software and created a bunch of different sizes of the Geo Globe.  Next, I clustered the circles together and made sure they were slightly overlapping so I could weld them together and create one cut file.  I cut the file out of white cardstock then backed the file with some beautiful paper from Felicity Jane.

I wanted to create lots of dimension on the layout so I adhered dimensional adhesive to the back of the patterned paper.  I used a circle punch in 2″ and 3″ to cut few more circles out of various patterned paper and to cut out my photo.

For the additional circles I varied how much dimensional adhesive I used to create a little more interest and texture.

To finish off the layout I added a few chipboard circles and enamel dots along with a few coordinating word strips.  I used a simple date stamp to document the month our photo was taken.

Such a fun layout to create!  I love the mix of light and dark colors along with the vellum.  I also love that all the colors are connected by the repetition of circles.  Give this a try on your next layout and make sure that you tag The Cut Shoppe so we can swoon over your creations!

Elle’s Studio-Love You

Hello!  Today I am over on the Elle’s Studio blog sharing my very first design team project.  I am so excited to be spending the next year with you sharing how I document my family’s memories using the fabulous Elle’s Studio goodies!

For today’s project I wanted to focus on the adorable coordinating stamp set available this month, the All My Heart stamp set.   I adored the script “Love You” sentiment and wanted to use it as a title on my layout.

Instead of just stamping on my layout I wanted to add a little dimension so I decided to create a cut file out of the stamp.  To create the file I simply stamped the sentiment on white cardstock with black ink.  Next, I took a photo of the sentiment and opened the jpg in Silhouette software.  I traced the stamped image and cut it out normally on black card stock six times.  I layered the cuts on top of each other to create dimension and adhered it to the center of my layout.

To create the interactive flaps on the layout I created a box in Silhouette then erased the top cut line.  I cut the flaps out of the beautiful woodgrain paper from the Sunny Days collection and adhered it down to the 12×12 white base.

I used the tag die and Celebrate stamp to to make flipping up the boxes easier and a little more cute!  Under each flap I used the Malia numbers to document my boys age and then typed a few of their favorites right now.

I added a photo of each of my boys and embellished the box with one of the cute wood veneer Love Ya circles from this months add-on.

To bring a little more color and interest to the front of they layout I stitched an acrylic star with yellow and green thread right above the title.

On the front of each flap I punched out a 1 inch circle from white card stock then used the black alpha stickers to place my boys first initial in the center.  I added a little heart stamp in the same color of card stock that is backing the journaling on the inside of the flap.

I love the final spread!  I love adding interactive projects into my memory keeping, (my boys love it too)!  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Links to all the goodies I used are below.  Have a beautiful day!

Pretty Little Studio-Explore

Hello friends!  I am over on the Pretty Little Studio blog today to sharing another traveler’s notebook spread.  I have been adoring documenting our family’s memories and jotting down ideas in this little book.  For today’s project I wanted to create a little pocket to hold my journaling and photos.

I created the little pocket by stitching together 2×2 squares from the Woodland collection then stitching down the 3 bottom edges to the notebook.

Using a tag die I cut the picture and 3 pieces of white card stock to tuck inside the pocket.

On each tag I used the Tree Bark numbers and a simple word strip to act as jumping off points for my journaling to my boys.  To add a little detail and color to the tags I added a strip of rose washi tape to the bottom edge.

For the left side of my spread I adhered a piece of Spider Web vellum and a wood veneer circle sentiment from Color Cast Designs.

I love how the final spread turned out!  Woodland is still my favorite collection from Pretty Little Studio.  I just adore all the coordinating colors and embellishments.  You can check out the whole collection here or use the links below for the specific items I used in my project.

Every month in addition to the kit there are lots of add ons that you can add to your box.  This month there is lots of fun Valentine themed embellishments and stamps.  My favorite this month is definitely the beautiful puffy stickers…. ACK! I could just die!  LOVE!

Here is a look at the coordinating digital files for January.  These are all fabulous and you can always edit the colors in Photoshop to match each of your projects.

This month there is also a set of Valentine journal cards!

Here is a look at two of the projects I created this month using the January kit and extras!

For this project life spread I wanted to take a look back on 2016 and used my favorite stamp of all time, Dated Stamp Set.  Under each stamped date I added a 2.50 x 2.50 photo from that month and a few journal cards from the exclusive January kit.

I added a few of the die cuts from the kit, along with the extra stickers and acrylic hearts as embellishments around the spread.

For the title card I used the Jonah Stamp set for a clean, streamlined look.

My second project is a simple 8.50 x 11 spread telling an important story.  I wanted the photo and words to be the focus of this spread so it is light on embellishments, but BIG on love.

To add interest to the layout I used a mixed title.  I mixed the alpha stickers in yellow with the Jonah stamp set.  For my sub title I used a 3×4 journal card from the kit.

I added the journaling to the spread using my typewriter.  To add a little more style to the bottom of the layout I added a few strips of paper and an adorable wood veneer heart.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Links to all the products are in blue above and let me know if you have any questions!  Have a beautiful day!
