Father’s Day Mini Book

Hello friends! Candace here with you to share a fun mini book I created for Father’s Day. I wanted to create something special to give my husband to remember and celebrate all the fun family hikes we have taken over the years. Using the May kit and extras I was able to create a get all the photos in the and memories decorated and documented in this cute mini.

I started the mini book by using the Typewritter alphas and stamping the title on the side of the cover to create a bit more interest than stamping straight on. I added a cute tree icon and tied the mini together with a bit of green twine.

I wanted to have a title page where each one of my boys could write a note to their dad and tell him how special the hikes are to them. After the title page, the notes from each of the boys and I followed.

Next, I got to play and started pasting photos and embellishments in various positions and pages similar to the style of a junk journal. I used lots of fun stickers, and stamps to add sentiments and notes on cards and photos.

Such a fun and simple mini filled with lots of memories and love! It is fun to gather all my Elle’s Studio goodies and just create and document special moments and memories. I can’t wait to give this sweet mini to my husband and to have this to cherish for years to come!

What goodies can you gather to create a mini book? Any theme or style mini book would work and I would love to see what you come up with! Capture your memories and document them with love. Have a great day! Candace

Supplies: May Kit, Typewritter Alphabet Stamps, Typewritter stickers, Chipboard Icon Stickers, Icon Stamp set, Journal tags.

Elle’s Studio-May Cards

Hello friends! Today I am happy to share a few fun cards using the May kit and extras. I even took the chance to get a bit inky, which I miss and LOVE! Here is a look at the cards!

Card #1:

For card #1 I started with a yellow card base and built the paper stack from there. I was inspired by the colored ray card from the May kit to build the sentiment and embellishments from the corner. This is a great tip! Let the cards in the kit inspire the design of your cards or layouts!

I stamped the sentiment “celebrate THIS” from the Currently Icon Stamp on the bottom ray of the journal card. Next, to add a bit more color to the card I framed the top half of the card with a blue journal card. To build balance I added a die cut star to the lower left corner and built a small embellishment cluster of thread and acrylic star. I still needed to add bit more color to the card so I trimmed another journal card to line the card base. It was just what that card needed! Celebration card complete!

Card #2

First let me just say….I love this card and it was so fun to make. I was so happy to get inky with the Tim Holtz distress ink. As soon as I saw the To the Moon and Back wood veneer set I knew exactly what I wanted to create.

I created the star light sky by using three dark blue inks to create an ombre pattern across the card base. I wanted to create a bit of interaction between the moon and the edge of the card. I glued the moon down overlapping the edges and trimmed it to create the interaction. To create a little more interest and contrast I painted the moon with white glitter and the stars with yellow glitter. The finishing touches on the card were created by white ink splatters on the card base to mimic distant stars in the sky. So fun!

I hope you enjoyed today’s inspiration! Look in your Elle’s Studio kits and stash to get inspired and create! Don’t forget to tag Elle’s Studio so we can swoon over your creations. Have a beautiful day!

Elle’s Studio-Go Out & Explore

Hello friends!  Today I am here to share with you a fun sketch and the layout that I was inspired to create.  I LOVE working with sketches!  I love that I can take the time to just play with paper and embellishments and not have to worry about creating a balanced design; all the work is already done!

Using the sketch, the everyday themed papers and embellishments, along with the March kit I created this layout about a recent family hike.  I knew I wanted to make a bright, colorful and fun layout, therefore I wanted to keep the base of the layout simple and monochromatic.  I used a basic word sentiment paper to act as the base to the main photo stack.  To bring color to the photo and make the layout pop I added various papers and cards to back the photo.  I love the different angles and patterns this created.

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-GoExplore-1 2

To create the title on layout I combined a card from the March kit along with die cuts and the adorable wood veneer adventure tags. I chose to again vary the angles of the cards to create more variety.  I love the final look!

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-GoExplore-2 2

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-GoExplore-3 2

For the three blocks on the layout I choose to create blocks of paper, photos and embellishments.  I focused similar colors on each block to create a pattern and add a bit of dimension and interest to the blocks.

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-GoExplore-4 2

I had so much fun creating this layout & it came together in a snap using the layout. I can’t wait to see how you use the sketch to create a layout, card or travelers notebook spread!  Get super creative, have fun and tag Elle’s Studio!

Have a beautiful day!

Elle’s Studio- Everyday Cards

Hello friends!  Today I am excited to share with you a collection of everyday cards I created with the February kit and extras.  Do you want to know a secret…the February is always my favorite kit.  I ADORE the rainbows and clouds that come out every year!  So cute!

For today’s post I created three, fun, everyday cards! I could have kept creating!  The kit and extras this month have so many inspirational items that lead you to create and prompt you exactly what to put on your cards OR projects!   Here is a look at the collection of cards.

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-FebruaryCards-2 2.jpg

Card #1: You Make me Proud

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-FebruaryCards-4 2.jpg

Is there someone in your life that you need to let them know you are proud of them?  I love little cards that I can create and stick in my son’s lunches.  The combination of the cork star & the “YOU MAKE ME PROUD” wood veneer paired with the bold blue stripe made the perfect note.

Card #2: So Happy for You.

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-FebruaryCards-3 2.jpg

I love the bright & colorful rainbows this month!  The puffy sticker rainbows alone would bring a smile to a friends face, but paired with the fun patterned paper and the wood veneer sentiment you have a perfect card!

Card #3: Believe in Yourself, brighter days ahead!

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-FebruaryCards-1 2.jpg

Everyone gets discouraged once in a while.  We all feel like the rain is falling just on us sometimes.  What better way to send encouragement and brighten someone’s day than by sending a beautiful card with acrylic raindrops! The acrylic embellishments paired with the wood veneer and stamped sentiment created the perfect encouragement card.

With all these options and inspiration this month what cards will you create?  My challenge for you this month is to not only create a card but to actually SEND the card.  Brighten someone’s day, send needed love or encouragement, give the gift of friendship!  If you do create a card using the goodies this month, don’t forget to tag Elle’s Studio and I so we can see your beautiful creation.

Have a beautiful day & look for those rainbows!

Technique Tuesday- Love is in the Air

Hello friends!  I am excited to share a few cards I created this month for Technique Tuesday!  A while ago I saw these stamps on the website and I just knew I had to pick them up and create some cute & funny cards with them!  With Valentine’s Day coming soon it was the perfect opportunity.

Project #1: A Little Prickly Stamp Set with Matching Dies

Living in Arizona we are surrounded by beautiful cacti so this stamp set is the perfect set for friends and family!  Not only are the images adorable and have matching dies, but even the sentiments are absolute perfection!  In my excitement I couldn’t stop and created two cards for my stash.

TT-CandacePerkins-Cactus-1

For my first card I die cut the three different cactus images and colored them in with watercolor pencils.  I popped up the images with dimensional adhesive on top of a neutral card stock base then adhered that to a black card to add contrast and help the black on the images pop!  I stamped the sentiment on green card stock and added a little rubber heart.

TT-CandacePerkins-Cactus-3

The second card started the same, with die cutting and coloring a single cactus.  I placed that single cactus on a starry background to go with the theme of the sentiment.  For the final touch I added a metal star to the edge of the cactus.  ACK!  I love this one!  I can’t wait to slip it into one of my boys lunch boxes.

TT-CandacePerkins-Cactus-2

You can check out the stamp set and die here at the Technique Tuesday website!  What cute cactus cards will you come up with? Tag @TechniqueTuesdaystamps & @findingeverydayperfection I can’t wait to see!

Project #2: Love Stinks Stamp Set

I think this stamp set speaks for itself.  😉 As a mom of four boys I just HAD to get a poop emoji stamp set.  This set has gotten A LOT of wear already!  While I won’t share the cards my boys created with it; I will tell you that we had lots of good “clean” family fun & laughs!

For my card I just went simple.  I think that sometimes we make a little mistake and we need a little card that says “I’m sorry”.  A card that will bring a smile to the face and a little giggle.  A smiling poop will do that for you every time.

TT-CandacePerkins-Stinky-1.jpg

You can check out the stamp set  here at the Technique Tuesday website!  What cute poopie cards will you come up with? Tag @TechniqueTuesdaystamps & @findingeverydayperfection I can’t wait to see!

Project #3: You Aren’t Normal Stamp Set

Another great stamp set as a mom of boys!  This card will be making its way into a lunch box very soon as well.  😉 This simple card was created by stamping the sentiment on a starburst shaped chipboard and simply heat embossing a little red embossed heart.

TT-CandacePerkins-Love-1.jpg

Project #4: You Aren’t Normal Stamp Set

The final card I created with the You Aren’t Normal Stamp set was inspired by this little typewriter sticker from my stash.  After stamping on the background, adding a few clear sequins, and creating a small cluster with thread and stickers, I had a cute little base to place my sentiment.

TT-CandacePerkins-Thanks-1

I measured out the area I had available to place the sentiment and stamped the sentiment on a thick piece of white card stock.  Easy as that it looks like the cute sentiment is flowing out of the typewriter.  So cute!

You can check out the stamp set  here at the Technique Tuesday website!  What cute cards will you come up with? Tag @TechniqueTuesdaystamps & @findingeverydayperfection I can’t wait to see!

Remember, you can check out the these Stamp sets and all the other fun stamps in the Memory Keeper Studio here.  You can check out the coordinating dies that some stamp sets have and all the other dies in the Fresh Cut Studio!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a beautiful day and brighten someone else’s by making them a card!
