Citrus Twist Kits-Repeated Stamping

Hello again friends!  Candace here to show how I used the 4×6 “Gathering” stamp set this month.  Every month I look forward to this stamp and look for new and different ways that I can use it to stretch my creativity and storytelling.  This month I wanted to tell the story of a fun date night with my husband.  I had an idea in my mind of the overall design and then I used the stamp to inspire and create different aspects of the design.  Here is a look at the final spread.

To start my layout I used an 8.5 x 11 piece of white card stock turned horizontal.  To add soft interest to the background I did repeated stamping, both 1st and 2nd generation, in grey ink using the beautiful leaf patterns on the stamp.

I printed out a large photo to act as the focal point of the layout but left room around the edges to add a few accent pictures.

I placed the accent pictures around the large photo in a visual triangle.  To add more dimension to the spread the small photos are popped up on adhesive squares.

Using labels from the Pocket Life kit ephemera pack I stamped coordinating sentiments from the stamp set.  I adore the font on these labels and the feelings and memories that the sentiments bring back when I look at the spread.

This was such a magical evening and I am so glad that it was captured and documented to remember forever.  This is what scrapbooking is all about!  This is the WHY behind this fun hobby.  It really is at the heart of all our projects.

I hope this inspired you to tell your stories in a different way this month.  Have a beautiful day!

PS. Don’t forget to stop by the shop and check out all the grab bags before they are gone!

Citrus Twist Kits-November Pocket Life Challenge

Hello friends!  Welcome back, Candace here to share a new pocket life challenge.  There are two things that I love to include on my pocket page spreads to add interest and extra space.  First, I love to add inserts.  I don’t always need the additional space for photos or journaling but when I do I love the extra interest and space it gives me to tell our family’s story.  Second, I love to create my own filler cards using ephemera, stamps and alpha stickers.  I love the custom look this gives my spreads.  Even though many people will receive the same products, I love that my spreads will look different and custom when I create my own cards.

Here is a look at the spread I created using these challenge techniques.

On the left side of the spread I created my own title card and filler card using goodies and embellishments from the kit.  Including the alpha this month that I an IN LOVE with!

On the right side of the spread I created another filler card using the same shape as the left side to create a repeated element across the spread.  This will attract the eye to the same shape and add balance to the spread.

This week I had four photos of my boys that I really wanted to include so I decided to add an insert to the center of my spread.  For my filler cards on the insert I wanted them to look clean and simple.  I used plain white card stock as my base and added embellishments.  I adore how these turned out!

Here are a few close ups of the filler cards!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope this inspired you and gave you a few ideas to use on your next spread.  I would love to see what you create.  Make sure to tag Citrus Twist Kits when you post on Instagram so we can swoon over your creations!  Also make sure you stop by the shop to pick up any any goodies you may need!

Elle’s Studio-Love This Tradition

Hello friends!  Candace with you today to share a layout using inspiration from a sketch in the new From Sketch to Finish Class Vol. 3!  Guys.  I LOVE this class!  So much inspiration, information and ideas!  As soon as I saw the sketches I was flooded with ideas! Even better, there was a stamp set released with the class that is, no joke, my new favorite!  You can check out the class here.

Here is a look at the layout inspired by a sketch in the class and using the new stamp.

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-LoveThisTradition-01

You can see a little sneak of the sketch in the corner, shhhhh!  What I love about sketches is there really are endless possibilities.  I decided to turn the sketch on it’s side for my layout and change it to an 8.5×11 spread.

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-LoveThisTradition-02

I love that I was able to use a combination of the stamp, papers from the Document December kit and wood veneer circles to create the pattern in the sketch.  To add more dimension and interest to the design I added a few other embellishments and popped up some of the circles.

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-LoveThisTradition-03

I love the large title and how it fit perfectly with the sketch.  I added the chipboard sentiment to the top of the wood veneer for a little more color.  I wanted more textures on the spread so I added bits of bunched up thread to various embellishments.

EllesStudio-CandacePerkins-LoveThisTradition-04

Such a fun and colorful spread that came together in a snap with inspiration from the the From Sketch to Finish Class Vol. 3 and the new stamp!  I can’t wait to see what you create with all these new goodies in the shop, the options really are endless!

Citrus Twist Kits-Walk Field Notes

Do you ever see a spread in your head and then it comes out just how you imagined?!  I love it when that happens!

Last month I went on a hike through Bryce Canyon with my four little guys.  It was such a beautiful and fun adventure so I wanted to document all the details in my travelers notebook.

Here is a look at the completed 2-page spread. Swoon! I love it!

CTKOctoberwalk-1

For my title on the upper left hand page I combined the “walk” sentiment from the ephemera pack along with the October TN stamp.  I popped up the title with pop up squares to create a mixed title with more interest.

CTKOctoberwalk-2

Using one of the 4×6 cards from the documenter kit I created tabbed cards with photos from our hike.  I ran each card through my typewriter to add my boys names on the front tab and the journaling on the back.

CTKOctoberwalk-3

To create a home for each one of my cards I stitched vellum to my travelers notebook pages and made cute pockets.

CTKOctoberwalk-4

Now with a home for all my photos, and journaling, I added a few little embellishments with pop up squares.

CTKOctoberwalk-5CTKOctoberwalk-6CTKOctoberwalk-7

To add the location and date of the hike I again used the stamp along with a cut up 3×4 card from the documenter kit.

Freckled Fawn-October

There is so much to love about the fall but one of my favorites is the changing of the leaves with the bight colors, crisp leaves and fresh smells.  I wanted to create a simple layout documenting the fall season and all the beautiful things I love about it.

I started my spread with a 6×8 photo and layered the beautiful ‘October’ wood veneer and chipboard over the photo.  To mimic the fall colors on the right side of the spread I used the new 8.5 x 11 exclusive Freckled Fawn papers as a background for my journaling.  I printed my journaling on 6×8 card stock and centered it along the patterned paper to match my photo.  To add just a little more color and detail on the right side I added a few more chipboard pieces.

Here is a look at the final simple spread.  Enjoy!

I love the spread and that a simple and elegant design can tell the story beautifully.  Stop by the shop to pick up some of the new fall goodies to tell your stories!

Citrus Twist Kits-Conversations

Hello friends!  Candace back with you today to share a spread using the Pocket Life kit and the October Conversations 4×6 stamp set.  I am in LOVE with the stamp set this month and as soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to document.

I started my spread with a full 12×12 black and white photo. Next, I measured the stamp to see exactly how much room I had to insert my quote journaling.  I took the measurements into Photoshop and created a new canvas with guides to structure my type.

After printing out all my quote journaling I stamped the quote and line from the stamp set around the journaling.

To add a little more detail and dimension I added labels from the Pocket Life kit with the names of our family typed on top of each of the journal blocks.

Hearts from the ephemera pack were the perfect touch to a few of the blocks to create a visual triangle and further interest.

For my title I layered a few more pieces from the ephemera pack with dimensional adhesive.

For a more in-depth look at how this spread came together take a look at the video below!

Citrus Twist Kits-Project Life Challenge

Hello friends!  I am positively over the moon to be sharing my first design team layout and challenge with you for Citrus Twist Kits! Pocket life spreads are my favorite way to capture our family’s special everyday moments.  There are a few design techniques that I use every week to help my layout come together in a snap. For this challenge I would like to challenge you to use a few of my “go to” techniques.  First, add dimension in the pockets, and second, add white space to balance out bold colors.

Take a look at my layout below and how I combined both of these challenges together in my layout.

One Little Bird-Project Life Inspiration

Hello again OLB friends!  Candace here to share another project life spread using some fun digital cards from the shop.  The Roam collection is one of my absolute favorite collections!  As a family of all boys we go on lots of wild and crazy adventures.  Recently we went to the Grand Canyon and did a hike all together.  The vacation was perfection and I was so excited to get home and put the Roam collection to work.

Here is a look at the full spread using the Roam kit. We had lots of pictures from our trip so the documentation goes on for a few more pages.  I wanted to make sure that I had journaling for all the pages so I needed lots of filler cards to fill the extra card slots.  I used inspiration from the kit to fill all the spaces and create a clean, balanced layout.

I used the “See the World” and “Go” card as inspiration for the base colors for the layout.  After printing out all the journaling cards I looked thru the papers and embellishments to find elements that would bring balance to the spread.

I created a journaling card on the left side of the spread by adding a green sentiment to the top of a card.  The repeats the green on both sides of the spread but still keeps the spread nice and clean with lots of white space.

To balance the blue on the spread and create a visual triangle I used the “Travelogue” tag from the elements and turned it into a journaling card that I could add my thoughts and feelings to.

I loved this little journaling card as it was printed but I needed to add another wood veneer embellishment to balance the left and right side of the spread.  I found this little circle tree embellishment that was a perfect fit inside the lines of the card.  It even matched the theme and feel of the layout!

I was SO excited when I found this coordinating blue globe in my stash!  I added a little sentiment from the elements kit and a red geo tag.  A perfect addition to the spread.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Give this a try on your next layout, find one card in a collection and build your spread around it.  You will be surprised at how fast and balanced your layout comes together. Have a beautiful day!
