Hello friends! Candace back with you today to share a few tips on how to easily add interest to your pocket page spreads. Sometimes when we do this project week after week year after year we can fall in to a bit of a rut. Today I wanted to share a few simple ideas on how to keep not only your readers interested in looking at your spreads but keep you inspired to keep creating!
My inspiration for this post came from week 26 from my 2017 project life album. Here is a look at the completed spread!
Tip #1 : Layer white embellishments on top of dark colored papers and journal cards. This will add depth and contract to your pages.
Tip #2 : Add a bold element focal element to the spread. This will break up the journal cards and give the eye somewhere to rest on the spread. (It also looks really fantastic!)
Tip #3 : Add a see through element on your page. For my see through element I adhered a square chipboard embellishment to a clear piece of acetate cut down to 3×4. When I move on to documenting my next week I can just adhere another chipboard piece to the other side and complete the spread as usual.
Tip #4 : Add repeated elements across the spread to help to reader’s eyes travel across the spread and look for the similar elements. This also adds a certain continuity and cleanness to the spread. For my repeated element I added a cork geo tag and white chipboard word strip to three various 4×6 photos.
Tip #5 : Add an insert. This will give the reader an interactive tool and a new element to look at. This works especially well if there are items to pull out of the insert. For my insert I added a photo and a few items of memorabilia from my son’s baptism.
I hope this inspired you to add a little more interest to your weekly spreads to break up the monotony and bring back a little inspiration! It is important to document our memories but we should enjoy it, have fun with it and be inspired by it! Have a beautiful day! All the items I used in todays spread are linked below.
