Friday Spotlight-Scraptastic Kit Club

Happy Friday!  Time for another Friday spotlight, today it is on Scraptastic Kit Club!  Like lots of you I have tried different kit clubs.  There is something exciting about getting some mystery goodies every month.  It really is happy mail!  Scraptastic always offers two main kits, today I am showcasing the Either Way July kit.

First up is the layout!

I started out with the card stock from the kit.  I used some white acrylic paint and painted a stripe along the left side of the page.  I loved so many of the papers from the kit and from the My Minds Eye Marketstreet collection, so I wanted to place those papers along the side.  To add some detail I cut all the squares out using a pierced square die.  I wanted the page to have a feel of lots of layers, almost like a quilt.

There are so many beautiful embellishments in this kit it was hard to decide which ones to use.  To continue with my theme of the quilt I put the buttons on the coordinating card stock to get a tone on tone look.  I sewed all the buttons down with my sewing machine.  I then tacked all the other squares down with just a few stitches as well.

For me embellishments are more pleasing to the eye in odd numbers.  So for my last tone on tone embellishment I used the adorable wood veneer globe.  To make it match the buttons I just took some string and twisted it together and adhered it with another wood veneer from the kit that I colored with pigment ink. DSC_0301

I loved the black flair that is in the kit so I had to find a place for that also.  With some stickers from the phrase and accent sheet I place it by the picture over layers of two patterned papers, vellum and an overlay.  (I love my layers!)

Lastly I needed a spot for journaling.  Using the cut apart sheet from the kit I placed two tags in a pocket I made with a card from the ephemera pack.  For the finishing touches I stitched around the edge of the paper and added some black ink splatter.

I loved the beautiful wood veneers so I used them as inspiration for my cards.  I made two simple cards with a few things from my stash and other goodies from the kit.

Thanks for stoping by!

Have a great weekend!
